A largely attended mass meeting was held at the court house Wednesday night. Mayor Henry C. Miller presided. Short sympathetic addresses were made by Hon. R. C. Merritt, Dr. G.L. Yates, Senator Perkins, Vernie Graves, Martin W. Moses, E.H. Pettus and others. Mayor Miller called for those present to give us they deemed they could and $2500 was immediately raised. L.A. Scott, Howell E. Smith and J.L. Chapman were appointed as a committee to receive the funds raised and to disburse them. A large committee was named by Mayor Miller to meet this morning at 9 oclock over the courier Gazette office to raise additional funds
The committee met over the Daily Courier Gazette office this morning and divided themselves into three groups with three captains to work the business district. These committees worked for about two hours and raised about $2500 making a total of more than five thousand dollars already raised in McKinney for aiding the storm victims.
