Following is a partial list of the houses destroyed by the tornado:
Residence of Dr. J.M. Mallow, unroofed and badly demolished. Mrs. Mallow was cut on the face by flying glass. Dr. Mallow probably saved the life of his wife by seizing his wife as she started to leave the house. Directly over the door through which she would have passed a brick and chimney crashed down. She would have been caught under the debris.
The Walden Hotel, located 100 feet north of the school building was picked up and jammed against the north side of the school building. Mrs. Myrtle Corn and four children quit the house and sought refuge in a smoke house adjoining the east side of the building. They escaped unhurt. The house was badly damaged. J.W. Walden, who runs the hotel was in McKinney when the storm struck.
In the Negro section of the town the destruction seemed to be practically complete. The church, school house and seven residences were destroyed. Florence Thomas, 10, colored, was killed at school.
Jake Gibson, who occupied the Gibson old homestead, lost the home, also his fine cow barn, silo and other outhouses. This home is located in the west part of town and was one of the first houses in the path of the tornado. The Houston and Texas Central railway station was partially destroyed. The north part of the building was demolished. Everette Hardaway, station agent, sustained a number of more or less serious injuries. However he was able to be about this morning.
