J.H. Rogers well known farmer who lives a few miles east of Melissa suffered heavy loss in the cyclone. All his barns and outhouses were practically destroyed. His hat was blown from his home. The following day while he and his sons were going over the pasture picking up the timbers, fearing his stock might step on the nails which many of the timbers contained, he found his hat which was about three-quarters of a mile from his home.
